Swampscott, Massachusetts — A motorcyclist died in a crash with a vehicle shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday 01/08/2019 at the intersection of Paradise and Ellis roads.
The crash, which involved a motorcycle and a car, both traveling on Paradise Road adjacent to Abbott Park, occurred when the motorcycle pulled around and passed the car directly ahead of him, which had stopped to allow a vehicle in the oncoming lane to turn left across Paradise Road. The motorcycle struck the right rear corner of the turning vehicle, and the operator was thrown from his cycle.
Speed and the weather conditions may have contributed to the crash.
The driver of the other vehicle, a Swampscott woman, suffered only minor injuries.
Massachusetts State Police are assisting Swampscott police in the accident investigation, which continues.
